Benefits of acupuncture in the horse.

Acupuncture as a technique for treatment of diseases is included in the whole of Chinese traditional medicine and consists of the application of different materials (steel, silver, gold) needles in certain points of skin (acupuncts), with fixed location and specific indications for each of them. They move energy (QI) and blood (Xue) among other functions.

You could define it, in a simplistic way, as the insertion of needles at specific points on the surface of the body to achieve a curative effect.

 

We use various techniques of acupuncture including:

1. Needle insertion technique
2.  Electroacupuncture
3. moxibustion
4. Gold implants
5. Laserpuncture

These are efficient for the treatment of pathologies such as arthritis and chronic pain, treatment of muscle contractures, skin problems, treatment of disc hernias, etc.

Since 1979, acupuncture is considered part of Medicine by the World Health Organization and it is at its request that China opened the first institutes for the teaching of acupuncture to foreigners.

World Health Organisation, 1979: "acupuncture is certainly not the panacea for all diseases, but the clear weight of evidence demand that acupuncture is seriously considered a clinical procedure of substantial value".
